GWB & the Environment

According to Katharine Mieszkowski in Bush's seven deadly environmental sins Bush has not left a very good legacy for helping the environment. This may be true for multiple amounts of reasons, but due to some of his recent acts according to Bush to Protect Three Areas in Pacific by Juliet Eilperin, Bush will be protecting more ocean than any person in history by the end of his term.

Bush will create three new marine national monuments in the Pacific and the area totals 195,280 square miles.According to his top aides, "A move that will help preserve sprawling sea and island ecosystems and cement the one aspect of his legacy that has won praise." Many environmentalists are saying similar things about President Bush.
Is this just a way to turn peoples attention away from his seven environmental sins stated in Katharine Mieszkowski's article? In my opinion it's not, Bush, being a fisherman himself, has always shown interest in sealife and may only be concentrating hard on areas for his own personal gain or areas that he is more interested in helping.

As i was reading the article, i noticed the author's perspective was optimistic towards bush's environmental acts. The author was able in include the two articles in his thesis.
